March 17, 2020Mount Damavand is the highest mountain in Iran.
Damavand is located in Mazandaran province and 70 kilometers from Tehran.
Damavand has a longitude of 52 06’ 48” E and latitude of 35:46’:56” N.
This large cone shaped mountain is located on west side of Haraz River, it reaches the river of Delichai from the west and from North there are Nomarestagh Mountains.
Damavand is an isolated mountain and all the edges reach the summit but only Sar-dagh edge connects it to the Alborz range.
Damavand is climbed through 16 routes.
There are glaciers as Yokhar, Arusakha seeyooleh and Dobi-e-sell at Damavand .
There are six shelters on Damavand.
Two rivers of Talkh roud and Moshk-anbar originate from Damavand.
There are villages around Damavand among them are village of Nandal, Polour and Rineh.
North West Rout (NWR)
The North West Rout of Damavand is known as Yal-e-Dagh and it is the most beautiful rout of Damavand.
The NWR is the only rout that connects Damavand to the Alborz range.
You can reach to NWR from Nandal village.
To reach Nandal take Haraaz road and from Kouh-roud and enter a dirt road that is 23 kilometers long.
At the height of 2500 meters you can find the best beautiful scenery in Damavand.
After few hours of walking you will reach to cham-bon countryside at the altitude of 3200 meters.
From cham-bon reach yourself to the altitude of 3850 meters where is known as Sar-dagh edge.
You should spend the night there.
Tomorrow morning, after on hour walk you will reach to the altitude of 3950 meters.
From there you can have a nice view of Mt. Dow-khaharan, Laar plain, Sarak-chaal, Mehr-chal, and khol-e-now.
Continue ascending the mountain until you reach the altitude of 5000 meters where you should climb a rock.
After one or two hours you will touch top of mountain.
Normally the second day you have 6 hours to reach the top and 3 hours to come back to the base camp.
