Mount Tochal, Suitable For Weekend Getaways
December 11, 20225 Korean Principles of Healthy Living that You Can Imitate
January 17, 2024For those of you who like to climb mountains, of course camping at a height with cool air is an option. Especially those of you who are interested in visiting Mt. Damavand, because there are many majestic mountains around this mysterious mountain.
We decided to visit a new destination this year. A place where not every typical tourist may visit. We drop the pin on the map and there it was: Iran. One of the most ancient countries in the word. We chose camping at the foot of Damavand with views of the other mountains around and cool air. Of course Goosfand_Sara is the right place to set the camp.
To reach Goosfand_Sara, a struggle that is no less draining is needed. The jeepny rides on weekends have become commonplace. After passing Polour and turning towards the side-road, the natural beauties are unavoidable. Apart from those beauties, the deep steep road to the sublime mountain is also an adventure experience.
However, all will pay off completely with a nice view on the side of the road. Occasionally, the car jeepny are driving had to rest because the road is steep and covered with rough rocks. Until finally we arrived Goosfand_Sara at the altitude of more than 4000 meters above sea level. After a journey that took about 1 hour or so, we finally arrived at the mosque.
Incidentally we arrived before sunset and finally chose to take a rest at a prayer room in this high altitude camp of Damavand. The atmosphere is typical of the countryside and added to the cold wind from the cherry gardens makes the heart calm and cool. Exactly the atmosphere when I was small in the village.
Here at Damavand, I feel like I want to stay for a week. Then we immediately greet the local residents to simply ask for the location of the camping as well as buy some snacks. And it turned out that Bargah_Sevom of Damavand was not that far away, and we also had to walk about 4 hours reach ourselves there. After walking towards the camping area, apparently no one was visiting here.
That means only our group, which consists of 5 people are here. After a short rest, then we started to set up the tents. We left some of our stuff at Polour for no good reason, so 2 people had to go down first to pick them up. And it was just me (Amoo Kazem), Andi Najafi and Zari setting up the tents.
While Andi just kept silent, Zari was talking non-stop and so fast. She was barging about her past ascends of Damavand and her previous adventures in Turkey. Best regards. Until finally our tents were standing and our other friends came. We also spent the night roasting chicken, eating snacks that we brought along and some playing guitar and singing.
In fact, our initial intention was that in the morning we wanted to make the ascent to Bargah Sevom. At 3 to 4 I always wake up and even all night I can’t sleep well. When I woke up, I heard the footsteps of a crowd of people climbing towards Bargah_Sevom of Damavand. I chose to play cell phones until morning, because the signal is really good here.
But during ascending to Bargah Sevom of Damavand, which was more than 4 hours, we did not find any other climbers and traces of new climbers’ steps. Damavand is one of the less climbed five thousanders in the world. Because we had no plan to reach ourselves to the top of Damavand, after arriving at Bargah Sevom (flat and can fit many tents) we finally chose to go down.
At camp 3 of Damavand you can get snacks and delicious soup. We spent some time around only wearing sandals and clothes. After coming down from the noble mountain, we decided to grill the chicken. After that we enjoyed the cool air with views of Mount Dow Berar.
Goosfand-Sara (the second camp of Damavand) is located at the foot of Damavand and with the weird mosque located there, you cannot miss it. After coming back from Damavand don’t miss the delicious kebab served at Nowrous restaurant.
