Regarding the fact that tourism industry is not under US sanctions, then Iran and Austria are expanding cooperation on exchanging tourists. Alexander Rieger, the Cultural Deputy of the Austrian Embassy in Tehran said so in an Eco-tourism symposium.
According to him, officials from EU and Austria have visited some ecotourism sites to know the culture and tourism potentials of Iran.
In 2018, more than 100 Austrian and Iranian mountain climbers climbed mount Damavand to celebrate the 175th anniversary of first Austrian climb of Damavand. In 1843, the first Austrian who was a scholar climbed Damavand successfully.
The event sparked hoped towards future cooperations between Iran and EU in various sectors specifically tourism industry.
Iran is a four season country and got a great civilization.
Expansion of tourism in Iran should be in a sustainable manner i.e. with supporting the nature and mountain populations in such a way that the future generations also be able to enjoy the purity of their environment.
