The color of the lake is red due to high amounts of salt and kind of algae.
It’s located at south east of Shiraz. Its 18 km from Shiraz towards Fasa.
There is an ancient village near the lake known as Maharloo village. If you are interested in ancient architecture don’t miss the place.
The best time to visit the lake is on fall and winter i.e. from September to March.
The lake is one of the major salt ore deposits of Iran.
Does it worth visit? Well, if you are interested in nature yes of course.
There is another lake located near Maharloo known as Bakhtegan.
